Whether you are going on holiday, business trip or buying a gift, we have a huge selection of suitcases in different sizes, colours, prices and materials, including Horizn Studios, Tumi, Samsonite, Titan, Porsche Design, Montblanc etc. We continuously deal with damaged suitcases from the airports and have continuously gathered many years of experience about which suitcases can take a beating and which suitcases cannot withstand the hard journeys. So we have of course based our selection on the best suitcases. We can also service all the suitcases we sell. At Copenhagen Luggage, a suitcase is not just a suitcase.

Suitcases and luggage of the highest quality

Investing in a solid suitcase is about more than just storage for your travels. A well-thought-out suitcase protects your belongings against impact, the elements, and rough baggage handling, while gliding easily over surfaces without straining your arms or shoulders. At Copenhagen Luggage, we exclusively sell suitcases that meet strict requirements for functional mechanics, well-considered ergonomics, and thoroughly tested materials.

Through our many years of working with repairs and airport-damaged luggage, we have built in-depth knowledge of which designs truly withstand the pressure of conveyor belts and baggage holds. Our curated assortment spans market-leading manufacturers such as Samsonite, TUMI, and Titan, as well as our own brand KKDK and exclusive leather goods from Montblanc. Whether your needs call for a feather-light model for business trips or a spacious vacation suitcase for the whole family, you will find thoroughly tested solutions where spare parts and authorized service ensure the suitcase a long life.

Choose the right suitcase size from cabin to large suitcase

The size of your suitcase must match both the length of the trip and the specific requirements set by transport companies. The wrong dimensions can lead to unnecessary fees or a difficult travel experience, where the bag is either overstuffed or unnecessarily heavy to maneuver. We generally divide our range into three main categories, each covering a specific transport need.

For shorter trips of 2 to 4 days, compact cabin suitcases for carry-on are the preferred choice. These typically measure 55 cm in height and hold between 35 and 45 liters, making it possible to travel efficiently without checking in. Be aware that airline rules for dimensions and weight vary, which is why you should always check the current set of rules for your departure.

When the journey extends over 1 to 2 weeks, many choose a medium suitcase. This model typically measures 65 to 70 cm in height and has a packing volume of 60 to 80 liters. The size provides sufficient space for changes of clothes and extra footwear without the suitcase becoming unmanageable on stairs or public transport. For longer vacations or overseas trips, people often choose large suitcases of 70–100 liters for 23 kg checked baggage, where the maximum capacity is utilized optimally without exceeding weight limits.

Why a medium suitcase is often the most versatile choice

A medium suitcase strikes the ideal compromise between spaciousness and maneuverability. While a large model can quickly tempt you into overpacking so that the weight exceeds the airlines' standard limit of 23 kg, a medium-sized variant stays naturally within the limits. It is easy to lift into the trunk of a taxi and takes up less floor space in the hotel room, making it the most versatile all-around model for the vast majority of holiday types.

Criteria for the best suitcase regarding materials and construction

When you are looking for the best suitcase for your needs, the choice of material is the most crucial element for the product's lifespan. The shell's resistance to impact determines whether the suitcase survives many years of intensive travel activity. We always advise based on practical durability rather than short-term savings, which is why we set uncompromising requirements for the raw materials in our selection of durable hardcase suitcases as well as flexible softcase suitcases.

  • ✓ Shell material with high elasticity: Prioritize 100 percent virgin polycarbonate or polypropylene (PP), which absorbs hard impacts without cracking.
  • ✓ Solid double wheels: Choose four independent double wheels with ball bearings and shock-absorbing rubber coating for stable rolling.
  • ✓ Integrated TSA combination lock: Secures the suitcase's contents against theft and allows customs authorities to inspect it without damaging the locking mechanism.
  • ✓ Reinforced telescopic handle: A multi-stage pulling system in sturdy aluminum minimizes play and ensures ergonomic control over the luggage.
  • ✓ Availability of spare parts: Ensure that wheels, zippers, and handles can be serviced and replaced in the event of mechanical wear or accidents.

Among the hard shells, 100 percent virgin polycarbonate stands out as the most resistant plastic material. By virgin polycarbonate, we mean a material that is neither recycled nor mixed with inferior plastic types. This gives the shell exceptional flexibility, allowing it to spring back to its original shape after hard impacts rather than cracking. If you are looking for the best suitcase for the price without compromising on breakage strength, polypropylene (PP) is an excellent alternative. Polypropylene is a dimensionally stable, shock-absorbing, and almost unbreakable material that offers superior protection compared to cheaper alternatives.

At Copenhagen Luggage, we deliberately do not sell suitcases made of ABS plastic. ABS is the cheapest plastic material on the suitcase market, and our experience shows that it lacks the necessary elasticity to withstand modern airport handling. The material cracks easily under impact, often on the very first trip, and in over 95 percent of cases, a cracked ABS shell is impossible to repair. We instead always recommend polypropylene or polycarbonate when the goal is a reliable and long-lasting suitcase.

Wheels, wheel suspension, and telescopic handles

A suitcase is never stronger than its weakest mechanical point. The wheel suspension is exposed to constant vibrations and lateral loads when you navigate over curbs, platforms, and cobblestones. Suitcases equipped with double wheels and solid ball bearings distribute the weight over a larger surface area, which provides a smooth and directionally stable journey. At the same time, the telescopic handle must have minimal tolerances in the extension so that the force transfer from your hand occurs directly without twisting the tubes.

TSA combination lock and internal organization

An integrated TSA lock is today an indispensable standard component on any modern travel suitcase. The lock makes it possible for customs authorities, including in the USA, to open and inspect the suitcase with a universal special key without breaking the lock. Inside, elastic cross-straps, separated zipper compartments, and dedicated pockets ensure that clothing remains neatly packed during the entire transport, which minimizes wrinkles and utilizes every single liter of packing volume optimally.

Authorized suitcase service and durability in practice

At Copenhagen Luggage, our commitment does not end at the cash register. We operate our own physical workshop with authorized suitcase service, where we repair baggage daily for both private travelers and airlines. Our technicians have direct access to original spare parts, including wheel sets, telescopic poles, and locking systems for brands such as Samsonite, TUMI, Titan, and KKDK.

When you buy a suitcase from us, a minimum of a 2-year warranty against manufacturing and material defects is included on most products. Should your suitcase be damaged during airport handling, this is considered transport damage, which usually must be reported directly to the airline upon arrival. Should an accident happen, our workshop is ready to prepare professional damage reports and perform the repair quickly and authorized, so you can quickly travel on.

Frequently asked questions about suitcases

Which size suitcase should I choose?

The choice of suitcase size primarily depends on the duration of the trip and the airline's baggage rules. For shorter trips of 2-4 days, a cabin suitcase of 55 cm is ideal, while a medium suitcase is perfect for 1-2 weeks of travel. If you are going away for a longer period or need to pack up to 23 kg, a large suitcase of 70-100 liters is recommended.

What characterizes a medium suitcase, and when is it the right choice?

A medium suitcase typically measures around 65-70 cm in height and holds 60-80 liters. It is the optimal compromise for trips of 1-2 weeks, as it provides plenty of packing space without becoming unmanageable or exceeding the weight limits for checked baggage.
